How to make a lyric Short

Turn your song into vertical videos for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and TikTok that start on your best sung line, with the lyrics lighting up as they're sung. You get two versions to compare, plus the captions to post them. Free, and it takes a few minutes.

  1. Open the Lyric Shorts maker

Find it under Tools, or tap the button under this guide. It makes short vertical videos that open on a sung line, with the words on screen from the very first second.

  2. Pick one of your tracks

Sign in, then tap a song from your list, or search for it by name. Each row says if the track has lyrics. A track needs its lyrics, so add them first in Your uploads (Edit) if it says no lyrics yet.

  3. Tap Sync the lyrics

It listens to the vocals to find when each word is sung, so your Short can start right on a line. It takes about half a minute, and you only do it once per song.

  4. Choose how long

Pick 15, 20 or 30 seconds. 20 is picked for you, and it works well on every app.

  5. Check where it starts

It starts on the line nearest the best part of your song, marked best part. Choose any other line from the list if you like. It always ends at the end of a line, so the video loops smoothly.

  6. Choose the picture

If your track has a canvas, the Short plays it behind the words. Tap Cover to use your cover art instead. Without a canvas, it uses your cover.

  7. Set up two openings

Version A is just the lyric. Version B adds a short line at the top for the first few seconds. Tap one of the ideas or type your own, up to 70 characters. Leave a box empty for no line.

  8. Play the preview

Hear that part of the song on a loop and watch the words light up as they're sung. Tap Preview this one on the other version to see it too.

  9. Tap Make the videos

It makes both versions at 1080 by 1920, right in your browser, in about half a minute. You need Chrome or Edge on a computer. Keep the tab open while it works.

  10. Download both versions

Watch each one, then tap Download under Version A and Version B to save the MP4 files.

  11. Copy the text and post

A title, a description, a pinned comment and a caption are ready to copy, with your link. Post A and B a few days apart, then see which one people watched longer.
