How to plan a video for your hook

Pick one of your tracks and get a shot-by-shot plan for a short video of its hook: a prompt for each shot, cut on the beat, plus the hook audio, captions and post copy to put it together in CapCut. Needs a free account, and it takes a few minutes.

  1. Open Hook video prompts

Find it under Tools, or tap the button under this guide. It plans a 10 to 30 second video of your hook, shot by shot. You then make the shots in your video app.

  2. Pick one of your tracks

Sign in, then tap a song under 1. Pick a track. Search if you have a lot. It listens for the hook, the part that comes back like a chorus. Tracks with no lyrics still work: the captions come from what is heard.

  3. Choose the length and shape

Pick 10, 15, 20 or 30 seconds. Then pick 9:16 vertical for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, or 16:9 wide for a regular YouTube video.

  4. Pick the hook and listen

You get three hooks, each with where it starts and ends in your song. Tap Listen to hear the one you picked, and tap another hook to switch.

  5. Choose a style

Cinematic story, Performance, Lyric visuals, Mood & texture, Night out or Home video. Each one says what kind of shots you will get.

  6. Set the longest shot

Pick 5, 8 or 10 seconds: the longest clip your video app makes. If your track has a cover, Start shot 1 from my cover makes the first shot grow out of your cover art.

  7. See where the cuts land

The colored bar shows each shot and where it cuts. Every cut lands on the beat, so the video moves with the music. Change the length or the longest shot and the cuts change too.

  8. Tap Write my video plan

It listens to your hook and writes the plan in about 20 seconds. Already have your video? Tap Just the post copy instead.

  9. Copy each shot's prompt

Your plan starts with the idea and the look. Then each shot has its time, the lyric it plays under, a prompt and an Avoid list. Tap Copy prompt and paste it into your video app. Not quite right? Write another version.

  10. Get the audio, captions and cover

Copy all prompts puts every shot in one block. Then download the hook audio, the timed captions (.srt) and your cover. You will need them to put the video together.

  11. Put it together in CapCut and post

Follow the steps on the page: add your shots in order, add the hook audio, trim at the cut times and import the captions. Post copy for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook is ready to copy, with a link to the full song on Latido.
