The story behind this song

The guy I had fallen for in the past came back into my life after five years. It was like we picked up right where we left off, and things were going really good. We had a connection unlike anything I've ever felt before. I was happy for once in a long time. It led me to reach out to an old friend. Actually someone I had considered as my best friend. We had drifted a bit and I was wanting to reconnect and introduce her to the guy I thought was the one. Which ended up being one of the worst mistakes in my life. Long story short, he fell for her and she fell for him. At first I didn't think much of it. Then I noticed the messages they were exchanging behind my back. He would message her late into the night, while I was right there trying to sleep. At the time it was the worst pain I had ever felt. The two people I thought I could trust most betrayed me in the worst possible way. It was a double betrayal.

Lyrics

[Lyrics©Tequilla Olney 2025] [Intro] When, you came back, After, 5 years gone, My heart hit rewind, And the love rushed on. [Verse 1] A connection, so strong, We synced, like a prayer. With our foreheads, pressed tight, And no words, in the air. [Verse 2] But then, the devil slipped in, And wore your voice, like a skin. Whispered lies in the dark, As your love, fell to sin. Oh oh oh (Oh why oh why) [Chorus] You were my home, My peace and my rock, Then, you carved out my heart, While, her texts lit the dark. How could you fall For my best friend? You left me hanging, And let it all end. [Verse 3] Those nights together, They got so cold. You kept choosing her, And left, our love on hold. Oh oh [Verse 4] You went, and broke my heart, Into so many pieces. You shattered it, like glass, With no glue, for the creases. [Bridge] How could you, Just abandon me… (Abandon me) How could you, After you promised me… (Promised me) How could you, (How could you) Just leave me… (Leave me) In all of this debris… (Oh oh) (Why why) (Oh oh) (Baby why) Ohh [Chorus] You were my home, My peace and my rock, Then, you carved out my heart, While, her texts lit the dark. How could you fall For my best friend? You left me hanging, And let it all end. (No no) (Oh no no) [Verse 5] I can still smell your skin, From our very, first embrace. Your energy, still lingers, As I imagine, your face… [Verse 6] I really, did love you, I begged, for you to stay. But you let my tears, hit the floor, And you chose, her anyway. Oh oh (Oh no) No why (Why oh no) [Outro] Those five years, came back, Then five years, were gone. Now I’m left with, this echo, Just writing, this song. [Fade out and end]
