Lyrics
Sleigh bells on the radio Christmas Eve, the house holds its breath I shoveled the walk twice, just in case Hung your old red coat on the hook by the door Your mother set out your cocoa cup Four years, kiddo, I quit counting Snow's piling up on the mailbox The clock's moving slow on the wall I was never good at waiting But I'm trying, that's all Leave the porch light on Leave the porch light on Wherever you've been, there's a warm way home Leave the porch light on Merry and bright, I'll be right here Leave the porch light on Your height's still penciled on the pantry door The tinsel's on the tree where you hung it as a kid I won't say a word if you come in late One more look out the window, then I'll sit Leave the porch light on Leave the porch light on Wherever you've been, there's a warm way home Leave the porch light on Merry and bright, I'll be right here Leave the porch light on I don't need a thing under that tree Just your boots by the door, melting on the mat Your laugh in the kitchen, the whole house humming Say you'll stay a while, and we'll call it that Leave the porch light on Leave the porch light on Wherever you've been, there's a warm way home Leave the porch light on Leave the porch light on Merry and bright, you're home tonight Leave the porch light on You can stop checking the window, Dad.
