The story behind this song

I wrote this song to capture a heavy truth about how my mind works. In a life full of betrayal, whenever I truly need strength or a way to cope, my mindset always reverts right back to my time in the military. Those old years shape how I stand up against the weight of it all.

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Porcelain hands, you placed them gently on the blade A slow-bleed curriculum of promises unmade Decades of whispers engineered to watch me bend A masterclass in bleeding out to satisfy a friend I traced the lines of every map you drew in salt And blamed my trembling fingers when the compass was at fault The architecture of a life built out of borrowed breath You didn't break me all at once—you scheduled my death. [Pre-Chorus] And the walls are breathing inward Sinking teeth into my skin Counting every single year I let the hollow poison in [Chorus] Now the static in my skull is turning lucid, turning loud I am screaming at the mirror, but I'm drowning in the crowd You built a cage of golden glass and told me I was free Well, look at what remains of all the mercy left in me I’m losing my mind, piece by fractured piece And war is the only release. [Verse 2] The calendar is bleeding out, a century of rust Every altar that you built has crumbled into dust I watched the seasons cycle through the malice in your eyes A lifetime spent rehearsing for the tearing of disguise You thought the quiet ones would stay beneath the heavy loam You forgot that deep enough is where the monsters make their home The looping tape inside my head has finally worn away There’s nothing left to bargain with, there's nothing left to say. [Bridge] (Heavy, down-tuned polyrhythmic breakdown, atmosphere shifting from ambient despair to mechanical fury) Sanity was just a leash you welded to my spine! Every compromise I made was engineered divine! You took the years, you took the blood, you took the quiet grace— Now watch the kingdom burn to ash and look me in the face! Look at me! LOOK AT ME! [Guitar Solo] (Melodic, soaring, transitioning into jagged, dissonant sweep-picking and chugging drops) [Chorus] Now the static in my skull is turning lucid, turning loud I am screaming at the mirror, but I'm drowning in the crowd You built a cage of golden glass and told me I was free Well, look at what remains of all the mercy left in me I’m losing my mind, piece by fractured piece And war is the only release. [Outro] (Fading ambient pads, a solitary distorted piano note repeating like a heartbeat, harsh whispered vocal) Let the sky fall. Let the pillars break. There is nothing left to save. We go to war.
